South Africa Couples Safari Holidays

From the top luxury resorts to the most fantastic city-break accommodations, South Africa has something for everyone and every type of vacation!

Here, we highlight five of our favourite properties. If any of these appeal to you, or if you need more information, please contact a member of our staff!

We begin near South Africa’s border with Mozambique, in a section of Kruger National Park known as the Lebombo concession. This concession has one of the most magnificent lodges we’ve ever seen: Singita Lebombo! With a spectacular location on the edge of a cliff, the property provides incredible views of the N’wanetsi River below as it flows through the lush bushscape.

Lebombo’s social rooms and 13 wood-and-glass suites appear suspended in midair, providing drama to this luxurious residence. Lebombo offers a high-quality safari experience with an interactive kitchen, multi-media lounge, wine studio, and 25-metre lap pool! The concession is a particularly game-rich area of the Kruger, and the lodge is perfectly situated to provide exceptional game drives and walking safaris. Then, as night falls, you can return to your luxurious accommodation, perhaps to enjoy some stargazing on your private balcony. Each balcony includes a daybed, so you can even sleep under the stars! There are both indoor and outdoor showers.

Another popular destination for couples is &Beyond’s Ngala Tented Camp, located in the Timbavati Game Reserve and next to Kruger National Park. This property is likewise located in its own concession, the Ngala Concession, and boasts a beautiful view of the Timbavati River. However, not all of the nine tented apartments face the river! If you’re looking for river views, we recommend booking early to prevent disappointment.

The community amenities, which are divided into two levels and contain very pleasant living spaces, a swimming pool, and a spa, provide stunning views of the river. All six suites are contemporary and roomy, with breezy gauze windows and passing game. There is lots of wildlife to observe in the concession, and Ngala is well-known for leopard sightings and uncommon wild dogs! Activities include day and night game drives, as well as short nature walks around camp, which allow you to get to know your surroundings quite well.

Traveling south, we arrive at Dulini Private Game Lodge in the western Sabi Sands. The home is located in the exclusive Exeter Reserve and is beautifully shaded by ebony trees. With only six suites, it provides a high level of exclusivity; both hospitality and guiding are superb here!

The main lodge, made of stone and thatch, exudes a classic safari air. The lounge has super-comfy sofas surrounding a cozy fireplace, and in addition to a very exquisite dining room, there is a dining balcony with wonderful views! Alternatively, visitors can request private eating in a peaceful area on the grounds. The Sabi Sands is known for excellent game watching all year, and activities here attempt to showcase the finest of the local species. Between activities, you can return to your lovely apartment, a secluded stone cottage with a comfortable bed, roll-top bath, indoor and outside bathrooms, private porch, and private plunge pool!

We return to the north of the country, almost to South Africa’s border with Botswana, to visit Makanyane Lodge in the Madikwe Game Reserve. Sanctuary owns and operates this property, and the lodge has only eight guest suites within a private concession, giving it a sanctuary atmosphere!

The communal buildings here are also fashioned of stone and thatch, which blends quite well with the surrounding bushscape. The property’s roofs are supported by gigantic leadwood trees, encouraging guests to connect with nature. The spa and swimming pool are great for some relaxation in between activities, while guests who enjoy being fit will appreciate Makanyane’s gym. In addition to game drives, night drives, and walking safaris, you can spend time in the lodge’s hides watching animals roam the plains or quenching their thirst at a waterhole. All eight apartments have an own veranda and are well-appointed throughout, with en-suite amenities including a freestanding claw-foot bath!

Our last destination is Cape Town. Cape Town, also known as the Mother City, may offer the best city break ever! Cape Town, with its famous V&A Waterfront, a good selection of pubs and restaurants, galleries, gardens, and even a mountain, more than justifies its reputation as one of the most interesting towns in the world.

Cape Grace Hotel is one of our top picks for couples. This hotel’s waterfront position, complete with its own quay, is simply iconic. The total number of rooms and suites is 120, which is quite significant, but the service standards are equally good! The property’s Signal restaurant consistently wins outstanding reviews. All accommodations are first-rate, with several suites and rooms featuring harbour and marine views! Cape Grace is an excellent location for touring the Mother City – and, if you want, further afield.

If you’re planning a journey to South Africa as a couple, we hope this tiny selection of houses has inspired you! Get in contact with us today to start organizing your dream vacation.
